Curriculum

Years 5 to 6
In addition, all pupils continue to be taught ICT, PE, Music, Art/DT and Drama.

Throughout the School PSHE and Citizenship is an integral part of the curriculum. It is not taught in isolation and is the responsibility of all staff who come into contact with the children. The syllabus is delivered through subject teaching, circle time, assemblies, charity/community involvement, outings, class roles and responsibilities, guest speakers, etc. In addition, discrete lessons are provided to cover personal safety, sex education, drugs, etc.


Key Stage 3 Classes (11 to 12 years old)

In Year 7 pupils continue to be offered the following subjects:

English
Science
Modern Foreign Languages
History
Geography
RE
UPPER SCHOOL
9 to 12 years old - Key Stage 2 & 3
 
Languages and RE follow their own syllabuses.  The broad curriculum continues to be delivered with generous allocations of time to PE, Music, Art/DT and Drama.
In Years 5 to 6 the syllabus content and skills taught in Mathematics, English, ICT, Science, History and Geography are broadly in line with the National Curriculum of England and Wales. The National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies are key resources.

After School Sports

Pupils in Y5-Y7 may go home at 3:00 p.m. after school finishes or elect to join after school sports. If collecting your child at 3:00 pm please collect them from the classrooms.

Year 5-9 sports are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

After School Extra-curricular Activities

Fee paying extra-curricular activities may be made available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays depending on demand and the availability of volunteers and/or professionals.  The cost of the After School Extra-curricular activities varies with each activity provider.

A form will be sent detailing the extra-curricular activities available and associated fees. This should be returned to the class teacher as soon as possible.
Please note:

All Activities start in the second full week of Term 1 and the first week of the remaining terms. Parents are encouraged to offer an activity to our children.

Children should be collected from the classrooms, Assembly Hall or adjacent areas at 4:00 p.m. They will be dismissed by their activity teacher.
